Well, it's ben a long time. Tru Calling - Did it ever return?? I can't even remember! But, the guy from John Doe is on a new series called Prison Break - This HAS to be a 1 season-er, right? I mean it's called "Prison Break"! Could they really spend 5 seasons trying to get out?
Good News: This will soon turn into an authentic blog, I am putting it together now, and there I will speak regularly about television again. I apologize for being gone for so long. I have recently added satellite and a DVR to my television repitiore, so my viewing has been drastically improved, but I have made several important discoveries about cable TV. I will discuss these at length soon.

I saw an ad the other night for the return of 'Tru Calling', I just can't understand how that show could come back before 'The Jury', or 'John Doe' for that matter! As much as I did enjoy Jason Preistly as a budding bad guy, he doesn't hold a candle to the ---- the bad guy on Point Pleasant -- which I have to say has grown into one of my favorite shows, and for the last two or three episodes has bee the better of shows on Fox's Thursday lineup.

I have uncovered a strange new catch phrase. It was born on America's Most Wanted this week -- the term "gone missing" is the new general term to replace missing or disappeareed. Now it's gone missing. Gone missing, what the hell does that mean? Tabloid TV is so funny.

American Idol is down to the final 12 tonight. I was suprised at a few of the eliminations, but that's the way it goes. Also, this year there doesn't appear to be a "Wild Card" contestant. I always liked that part of the show, but I still like this season just fine, with all the new bells and whistles they've added -- showing more of the middle part of the contest and making this final part - the least tolerable part of the show -- what with all the awful pop songs, so it's nice that it's been shortened up a bit. Seriously, no oneever takes any real chances, it's always the same songs over and over. Aretha Franklin is cool and all, but why not redo a Madonna song or the Cure or even Jefferson Starship or something.

And I hate this country addition they always throw in, I don't get that Faith Hill style of country, they never sing any Johnny Cash or Loretta Lynne.

I am excited to have two long hair guys and the husky guy from Cleveland on the show (I should really be checking my names here, but hey there's 12, maybe when there is 5 I'll know them by name. It's the first time I have ever found any of the male contestants the least bit attractive.

2/11/05

I have been enjoying American Idol this season, the changes have made it much better, I like seeing the second level of eliminations, I always felt jipped that it was a short and secret part of the show before now.

Unfortunately, 2 of my pics for the top 10 are gone, one got through and then quit because she missed her baby, and another girl that sold her wedding rings to get to the initial audition, who I thought was awesome was sent home -- meanwhile some real frogs got through. A smart R & B label should snap her up before she goes off the deep end, the girl had an awesome voice, lost 40 pounds in an effort to look better on camera, and took time away from her husband and daughter. How she gets sent home, while some losers who couldn't even remember the words made it through, is beyond me.

I'd hoped the black metal opera girl would last longer, but such is life, at least the scary guy from Cleveland is still in it, so that's a plus.

The OC, I haven't been writing much about the OC. I still love this show, but I still feel like the dialogue is less "good" than it was in season one. Everyone is sounding a bit too much like "Cohen". I am sick of the whole Lindsay / Ryan thing, why don't they just say, they we were dating before we new she was Caleb's love child. And Sandy as a cheat? Takes away my faith in the TV human race!

Point Pleasant (http://www.fox.com/pointpleasant/) is finally coming into it's own, what was the "OC with the devil's daughter" is finally becoming interesting. Last night's episode was much better with the flashbacks to the dance-a-thons of doom during the Depression, and we got to get to know Lucas Boyd's better which was very important, until last night he was only the guy from 'Ryan's Hope', and now he IS Lucas Boyd.

The big deficit here is two of the adult women look too much alike (I don't know their names, but you know who I am talking about), and none of them are particularly interesting yet. The two life guards look alot alike, as does our main girl Christina and her nemesis Paula. Maybe there are just too many characters?

I really enjoyed the doctor bringing her an offering that was cool. As long as it stays on the side of evil and doesn't turn into a "thank goodness for the catholic church" trainwreck I will keep tuning in. I like the main charachter Christina (Elisabeth Harnois), she is really beautiful (my husband is planning a stalking of her in the future, so that gives me something to look forward to -- yikes!)

The fact that the girl she is staying with is so much like her OC counterpart "Cohen" is a problem, she doens't look like a nerd, why would they have her be so nerdy-- and affected by it. Why can't she just be an indiviudal?

All in all this show is climbing the ranks for me, it' developing and growing in some good ways now - more hallucinations, more crazy offerngs, and more tragic flashbacks -- that I love.

This week I found out the Comic Book Guys real name, it's Jeff Albertson.

"Frankie Z is Johnny Zero", what the hell? Which is the actor, which is a character? THE JURY, you stupid fucks, THE JURY is the show we want on FOX, not Johnny Zero, his sidekick's eyebrows are just too distracting!

Pope April reminded me that Mickey and Mallory in 'Natural Born Killers' escaped during the Super Bowl.

IS it just me or is TV really lame lately?

The OC has taken a dive as it seems one guy must be writing the whole show, because everyone is mudding up and acting like they all belong to the same cult.
It's freaking me out.

I watched American Idol on Tuesday, and House came on afterwards. American Idol must play alot of subliminal messages during the show to get me to watch, the people I think are bad auditions seem to get the yellow Hollywood Bound papers, while some of the more original singers get turned away. I don't get it, and why does everyone want to chastise Simon? He is the only reason people watch.

Simon's silence brings me to House, which is a new medical drama about an angry doctor in some never explained "clinic". The merit of the show is the drug gulping, gimp doctor, with zero bedside manner, but it appears to me that someone might be trying to "Nice him up" which is a mistake.

If anyone from House is listening-- Misogynistic jokes are always funny, but he could go even a little deeper into his disdain for mankind and the limits of western medicine, it's been hinted at, don't shy away from it now. The sharp writing is what makes it good.

It is unfolding the lives of the young doctors, House, and the hospital administrators at a nice pace. I hope they carry some of that through. It's time to learn more about them as individuals - maybe through flashbacks or perhaps family responsibility, a secret from the past -- something. It's okay to have a thinking show on TV as long as it doesn't become a self important parody of itself. Don't be afraid to push the limits, that's what will bring in the viewers. Too many shows are very singular in the storylines. Our brains can follow 3 or 4 story lines, so please sir may we have some more?

I missed Lost and Medium this week. Watched Bumfights 3.

I have to take a moment to say that the bumfights series is a wonderful series of films, some of the best movies made in years, and Bumfights 2 is a MASTERPIECE of violence, despair and madness.

On "Crates" a man points to a deep puddle and declares, "This is our bathtub, here we swim with the fishes, we got Gold Fishes!"

Bumfights is a must for everyone to see, it serves as an excellent scared straight testimonial to making good choices in life, planning ahead, and not falling prey to addictions. Jaw dropping commentary on our society.

Finally, how can a guy named "Franky G" be starring in a show as "Johnny Zero" -- Both are character names?

Jan. 23, 2005

Yesterday I watched 'Bumfights 3', it just came in the mail. These Bumfights movies are some of the best movies available today. 'Bumfights' one is fantastic, 'Bumfights 2' is a masterpeice -- It should be shown in schools around the country! Bumfights 3 is the "felony footage" that was confiscated by police. When the 'Bumfights' crew won it court it was returned to its rightful owner. The very best is the Bling Bling footage inwhich we watch him go from sober and getting released from jail to cracked out, his entire face changes, and he waxes prophetic in some preditions -- see for yourself!

I watched 2 nights of 'American Idol', I don't know why I watch this show, but I've rarely missed an episode in 4 seasons -- A shocking admission! It's easy to preditct the top 12 already, I mean it's easy enough when they have these long background stories shot on the farm, in peoples apartments, and a band's practice space. I have had a realization though, that 'American Idol' is the 'Antique Roadshow' of people!

I saw a commercial today for "Nutrilium" from L'oreal.

What on earth is "Nutrilium"? Who makes up these names? That's what I want to know.

And what's the deal with that Sierra Mist commercial where the guy dives off a 5th story fire escape into a pitcher of ice water on the table of a sidewalk cafe below. And the dog jums into a glass of ice water after him.

Are they trying to say killing yourself is like diving into ice water? It seems to make some bizarre implications.

The OC seems alittle slow moving this season, or maybe it's moving to fast, something has gone awry. That much I know for sure.

We watched 2 nights of 'Point Pleasant' too. The first episode was really slow, I got board and I left the room, the second episode wasn't so bad. My advice: More evil, less good. It's like the OC, but instead of being from Chino, the girl is from hell. Is her Dad gonna be Harvey Keitel?? I wonder?

I tuned into medium tonight because I wanted to give it a second chance. This was no easy feat, that particular networ barely comes in on my TV, so I had to get up and jiggle the antennea cord. Nothing was working so I had to disconnect the VCR and put the antenna into the TV direct -- It was a big ordeal that took almost 15 minutes. It was alot of work to show support for Patricia Arquette who I like, and a TV show premis that seems like it could be good. The pilot was so so, but I decided to watch another episode before passing judgement.

What can I say, I was really disappointed. The here and there special effects that featured dead people popping up in the pilot were non-existent in this second episode. The story line was decent but definitely wasn't strong enough to support zero special effects and scare factor. People who watch shows like this want to jump out of their seat, bloody sheets and a few lame crime scene photos aren't going to do anything for them. Look on the internet, there are gruesome crime scene photos available everywhere, the ones on this show looked like they were from a movie in the 1940s.

I wrote a letter to FOX today, asking about their show from last season 'The Jury', no word yet.

Well I admit, I haven't watched much TV this week, and the OC was marred by the accompaniment of several non OC beleivers. But, I did want to say I predicted again who would win yet another Reality TV Show. The show in question this time was The Rebel Billionare (I have mentioned before I watch FOX almost exclusively).

Anyway, I knew way back on episode 3, when they the group did jumps off a cliff into the arms of a teammate hanging off a giant hook in the air. Everyone did the jump and on the winning team the 1 guy that failed miserably was Shawn. Everyone on the team agreed that he was the one who should be eliminated, yet when it came time for Nicole, the team leader, to choose she picked someone else. I looked over to my husband and said - "There's the winner, the fix is in". He rolled his eyes, as I am always yelling at the TV, predicting shows, and complaining about the news. Of course last week he admitted I was right again when Shawn walked away with the key to Virgin and a million bucks.

You say "So What! That's one lousy show!" Well, I agree totally, but I also predicted the winners of Paradise Hotel, American Idol 2, and a few others I cannot recall at the moment. And, I called them very early on, as I said for the Rebel Billionare, around episode 3.

The OC is back! The OC is back! How I love the OC!

This is one of, if not THE, best show on television. nad, it's going to be 12 weeks of NO Reruns!!! Yahoo! I wondered how they would top last season, but they appear to be doing just fine. Ryan's new girlfriend turns out to be Kirsten's half sister from Caleb's affair 16 years earlier.

Seth is hot for the ex-Skin star, now playing Alex, who works at the rock club, and Marissa is dating the gardener. I tell you, this is quality television!!! The best! And, it is so great to see Peter Gallagher on screen. He was so great in that movie where he gets the arm of the serial killer!

Anywhoo, the OC is back! At first I really didn't like all the new characters like Lindsay, Alex, Zach, and DJ, but Alex is growing on me, and I even dislike Lindsay alittle bit less. They aren't doing much with the others, and I find myself wondering why marissa and Summer still hang out at the Cohens, but I guess they wouldn't have a show if they didn't. Also, I can't understand why Kirsten isn't supposed to know why Ryan and Lindsay are dating, it seems ovious from the previous episodes. I don't get it, but I am sure it w ill play out soon.

I have begun watching 'House', it's a new medical drama-- on what else, FOX. It follows the angry Doctor House and his team of up and comer doctors. Three or four episodes in I still don't understand the whole "clinic" vs. hospital thing, but perhaps it will someday be explained. This week was already a rerun, which is a problem with FOX shows, but there doesn't appear to be any change in sight. Dr. House is a limpy guy with a rude disposition, he is rude, crude, and spouts philisophical gems here and there. The woman who runs the clinic or the hospital (whichever it is) used to be on 'General Hospital', so the GH jokes and references are deep.

The show is pretty good and so is the cast, which includes Robert Sean Leonard of 'Killer: A Journal of Murder' and other films. I fear though that is make go the way of 'John Doe' which was an excellent FOX dshow that disappeared after the cliffhanger season finale-- which I am STILL angry about. Now poor ol' John Doe is doing duty on that ghastly garbage 'North Shore' -- One of the few FOX shows I promptly turn off!

1/3/05

I have actually turned the channel! I watched 'Medium' starring Patricia Arquette (one of my favorite actresses, who rarely gets good roles). This was the pilot, so I have to be a little more forgiving than I would usually be. It's a bit slow, featuring only one rather slow paced story and some questionable "ghosts". It starts with a lot of promise when she wakes up and a mob of dead folks are at the foot of her bed, but when she goes to see a murder suspect in prison she talks about ghosts in the room that just aren't there for US to see. This leads to some confusion for the viewer, but like I said it was only the pilot, I am willing to give it another try.

Again tonight FOX is blowing my mind! I thought there was no topping the Trading Spouses with the disturbed vegan lady that HOPEFULLY someone called DCFS about, but the Swan, the Swan, The Swan -- It is just too much!

How many times can they say the word TRANSFORMED in one hour???

"Delisa, Erica, and Gina it's down to you", the Hostess says.

They had the contestants march alongside holograms of their old, ugly selves, then paraded all of their problems and sob stories, as the newly "transformed " beauties marched in lingerie in front of their parents and about 500 spectators -- some with posters cheering them on, they showed photos of them BEFORE on a screen 10 times the size.

"Skin Medic and Epicurean Advance Skin Care Systems for the finalists."

Vacations, modeling contracts, and a scholarship for the winner!

A $100,000 necklace!!

The winner Delisa was served with divorce papers while "Undergoing The Swan Program". Erica, the 2nd runner up, used to weigh 240 lbs., and 1st runner up Gina was the "wildcard girl" whose sister was also a contestant -- Infact, the 2 sisters had actually competed against each other for a place in the "World's Most Unique Pageant" several weeks earlier.

You ask, how do I know these things?

Because I watch FOX, and the Swan that started out as background noise for me while I did other things has become regular veiwing.

Trading Spouses is Blowing my Mind! This week I met the Loupes and the Gates. The Loupes would appear to be the wackier of the 2 families, I mean they do live on an alligator farm, but in the end no one compared to the looney tunes Barbara Gates. The Gates are a family of vegans, they look malnourished and shel shocked, an after a few minutes it was obvious why. Nice animal lovin' Barbara is a nit picking, nagging psycho that cannot stop complaining or berating her children or her husband for one moment. As the two episodes wear on we see crazy Barbara alienate the entire Loupe clan to the point where even burly biker types want to get away from her, she beats the families small dog and won't let up with her self righteous blathering. The topper comes when the militant vegan decides to try some aligater meat, her reasoning is that aligators would eat here if they had the chance, and after she eats it she says "That was no big deal!"

IT WAS NO BIG DEAL??? NO BIG DEAL!!! How on earth can she say that after all her talk?I could see saying oh that tasted okay, or what a weird texture, or something semi-intelligent that might keep up hear animal loving charade, but "No big deal"! My mind is blown!

When the two mothers meet, Diana Loupes tries very hard to be kind and respectful, but Barbara Gates is angry shes a vegan, angry her husband isn't as hot as Dianas, and angry she betrayed her entire reason for living, she is rude, self righteous, and opinopnated. She finally pushes the kind and level headed Diana over the edge and we see her eyes change in a flash to fire, and it's a cajun fire that is hard to put out.

Upon returning to their families, Diana's family are brought to tears to have her back, they cling to her and cry. Barbara's family appears relaxed and happy, that is until she starts with her trademark berating, she's angry at them, angry at the Loupes and, I think angry at herself.

One can only hope someone in california gave DCFS a call about this psychopathic wench.

I watched the season finale of Fox's 'The Jury' tonight. I hope by season finale, it doesn't mean show finale like it did with John Doe, which was aso growing into a fine show before it disappeared with a cliffhanger finale, enver to be seen again!

The Jury, far from being an X-Files replacement like John Doe was, it is a smart fresh look at the classic crimed rama that has become so popular in the last few years. The crime is not shown until the very end of each episode, after the jury has already given it's verdict, which makes it a show that must be watched to the end like the classic mystery shows of the early 1980s, but rather than a rich couple and their chaufer doing the diggin, or an eldery female mystery writer solving the crime it is quite literally "A jury of our peers".

Each episode the jury is locked into the deliberation room, and as they cover the details of the trial, we as the viewers go back and forth to the trial and to bits of the people on trial and their victims, not unlike the way Boomtown was filmed, but it is more articulatley done.

It is enjoyable to watch the 12 men and women of the jury, all from far different backgrounds, as they argue and debate and discuss the case. I really hope this show will return in the Fall, I beleive it could cultivate an excellent audience once people see it and know it is there. Networks seem to have forgotten that you need to grow a series sometime.

Of course it is disurbing to see Fox growing Quintuplets, forcing i t down viewers throats every other day witht hee same 4 epsodes and promoting it like crazy, whne they had the FAR superior show Andy Ricther Controls The Universe, which never got any promotion, never had a regular time and day for more than a few weeks and was taken onand of the air so many times it didn't have a cnace! Shame on you FOX! How could you do this to Andy, what did he ever do to you?
