"Monk", a new mystery on the USA Network is highly entertaining! It stars Tony Shalhoub as Monk, a former police detective suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

He's trying to get back on the force after the loss of his wife, the victim of a bombing, the only crime he has not been able to solve. It's been three years since it happened, and though he has been hired by his old police captain as a consultant on crimes that have the police baffled, his problems keep getting in the way of his reinstatement on the police department.

With his nurse Sharona by his side, as an annoying sort of Dr. Watson, his brilliance at solving crimes reminds one of Sherlock Holmes with a few exceptions. While talking to one suspect, he keeps moving the photos on a shelf -- much to the annoyance of the maid who keeps putting them back each time he moves them. He is terrified of germs, and finds it immpossible to shake hands with anyone.

I love this show, and that's something I have not been able to say about a mystery series in a very long time. Now, Monk can be seen every Tuesday on ABC, so those without the comfort of cable TV can enjoy the show as well.

Fun Fact: Mother Mary Joan always washes her hands 10 -15 times per day!
