About the News...I’ve Got Date Rape Drug Disgust On the news lately, you may have noticed the only drug dealers getting airtime are those that sell Ecstasy or the Date Rape Drug of the month. Look even Sammy The Bull with his new identity got busted with ecstacy. Do you wonder if the reporters just don’t like to get away with saying naughty little words like “Rape” and “Ecstasy”? Does it give them a little rise in their pants and support hose? I wonder what it is that makes these the big newsworthys of the drug world? If a crack, coke, heroin, or marijuana bust happens we hear about it barely in passing, and usually only if guns or a former TV star are recovered as well. But, oh the Ecstasy, and Date Rape Drugs Yahoo! Where’s Jodie Foster? Riddle me this, why does every tranquilizer have to be called a “Date Rape Drug”? What does that even mean? Does it just feel good rolling off the tongue, is that their suggestion of what people should be doing date raping and slipping drugs? The phrase doesn’t make any sense What the fuck is a DATE RAPE DRUG? Does a demon take over your body? Why Date Rape, why not the “Car Crash Drug”, “The Piss On Yourself Drug”, “The Argument Drug”, “The Catatonic Drug”, “The Trance Drug”? We call hallucinogens what they are, and we say Valium, and everyone says Prozac, Zoloft, Ginko Biloba, Peyote. It seems like this phrase is just another way to make women sound like targets. It’s like a suggestion. The whole idea of Date Rape seems to be representative of a woman being drugged against her will, but what if a man takes it? In my limited experience with these nouveau drugs, I wasn’t knocked out, and I certainly didn’t do anything that I didn’t have any control over, and it wasn’t forced down my throat. It was little more than taking any other depressant or pain killer. So why can’t these drugs just be referred to by their chemical or prescription name? Does “Date Rape Drug” need to be used on every news cast day in and out? Newscasters now say “The N Word” instead of nigger, how is it that Date Rape gets by in every evening news report, especially in this ridiculously politically sensitive period of time? It’s just another form of victimization, not by some guy in a dark alley or Evil Jock #2 whose slipping a Mickey, but by the News. What a surprise! The news is lies, beware the news.
