Independent? Spirit Awards

Late last night, as I practiced some deep "Ritual Viewing" from the sofa, so glad to have the dish back on (I'll explain that later) I came across the Nomination announcements, and a little infomercial of sorts on the Independent Spirit Awards on IFC (Independent Film Channel).
After about 10 minutes of some lady talking (I assume the Big Cheese) about how they don't worry about the Oscars, this is all about independant films that big studions ignore, and the awards ceremony is casual and fun, and just as important as the Oscars, cuz' it's all about giving a voice to these filmmakers, blah, blah, blah, yada, yada, yada, and then they pop over to a couple A or B list hollywood actors (Not very idependent), and they commence in reading off the Nominees (oh Boy)!
The nominees are EXACTLY the same as the OSCAR NOMINEES this year!?!?!
After all that, it's the same fucking list:
Brokeback Mountain
Goodnight and Goodluck
And so on.

Sure, they threw in an actor and an actress here and there and an unknown director -- but of course they aren't goping to win. I was totally pissed, it made me not even want to watch IFC, which I have been watching almost exclusively since upping our dish service to the premium setting, so we could watch The Shield this season.

Independant Sprit my ass! More like Dependent on Ass Sucking Hollywood awards. The whole ordeal made me take some Alka Seltzer Flu and go to bed....
